Key Pieces You Need For Your Winter Wardrobe

Thinking of buying some pieces for your wardrobe while the sales are on? We share which pieces you should be adding to your wardrobe this winter:

As we head into the middle winter our wardrobes pieces really need to take us through another 3 months (well, in the southern states anyway). So, what are the key pieces to invest in this Winter ?

What do I need to invest in?  What do I wear without looking frumpy or adding layers on all the time. Accessories are always important to any outfit. Jewellery, scarves or fedora hats are a must this season. And it doesn’t have to be black. Navy blue, animal print, green or plum is huge this season, so get out of your comfort zone and get shopping!

These are my key pieces for AW 19:

Jeans – A great pair of dark denim jeans can go with anything. Keep them dark and avoid light shades, patches or jeans with lighter patches on the thigh areas. The eye picks up on contrast so keep them dark and one shade for a stylish look.

Leather (or faux leather) Jacket – Mid Season sales are here and this is a great time to pick up a cool edgy leather jacket.

Black Pants – These are a must, team them up with a pointy black heel for a stylish and classic look. Roll them up a little and add a pair of funky ankle boots. Nothing too loose, ensure they are fitted. The biggest mistake ladies make is they buy clothes that are a size bigger than what they are.

Blazer – The cut is important, ensure that it’s not too long. Worn with a tee shirt and boyfriend jeans and a ballet flat, sneaker or ankle boot. This look is always fresh and youthful without trying too hard.

Crisp White Shirt – Invest in a good quality shirt, if it’s faded and changed colour, recycle it. It needs to be fresh and white and crisp. A looser cut and worn quite casual is the key. Worn with jeans or pants with boots and a knit over the top is a winter favourite of mine.

Chunky Knit – Chunky knit sweater is a winter essential and just something you need to have in your closet. Easy to style and wear, this sweater is super chic and casual, ideal for street style looks and outfits when you don’t want to do too much with your look.

A Good Coat –  A classic wool coat will take you anywhere — from the office to dinner, from the grocery store to the shopping mall, and anywhere in between. You can throw it on over jeans and a casual sweater and look instantly chic, and you can also wear it over your favourite work wear looks. A classic colour like grey, camel, or black is always a safe bet, but don’t rule out fun colours like red and emerald green.
