6 Ways to Enjoy a Takeaway Guilt Free

We’re always told that fast food is bad for us. However, there’s always that niggling voice in the back of our minds when we drive past McDonald’s. Surely, one won’t hurt? We scoff it down and all of a sudden we’re feeling guilty. Come on, we all know that feeling! If you want to be able to enjoy a takeaway guilt free then it is possible. Here are six ways to do it.

  1. Now and Then

Trying to stop yourself from having takeaways completely is impossible. When you do finally cave you’ll end up feeling guilty. You’ll then feel as though you’ve ‘fallen off the wagon’ and end up gorging on more junk food. If you want to enjoy fast food sensibly then allow yourself a treat now and then. It could be once a month, it could be once every year. Whenever your takeaway day is, mark it on the calendar. It will stop you from giving into urges beforehand.

  1. Plan Ahead

What are you going to get on your takeaway day? It’s a good idea to plan ahead so that you’re not tempted to order everything when you get there. As an example, take a look at the KFC menu and pick out exactly what you’re going to order. Write it down! On the calendar if you want to. This gives you something extra to look forward to. It also means that you won’t go overboard on all those sides.

  1. Making the Right Choice

It’s worth doing some research into which takeaway options are the healthiest. For example, creamy and salty curry sauces are full of fat and calories. Stuffed crust pizzas aren’t exactly great either! Have a look for all of the healthiest options for your favourite takeaways. You’ll then be able to make a more informed decision on the day.

  1. Say No

You know when you’re ordering a takeaway and they keep asking if you want anything else? Just say no. Do you want to make it a large meal for only an extra few cents? No. Did you want the free prawn crackers? No. Learn how to say no and it’ll make you feel far less guilty. These guys are just trying to upsell their products, don’t give in to temptation.

  1. Drink Up

Did you know that some fast food chains pack their food with salt? This, in turn, makes you feel more hungry. In fact, you’re just thirsty. Make sure you have plenty of water on hand when you’re scoffing on your burger and chips. It will stop you from going back for round two. Trust us, we’ve all been there.

  1. Go for a Walk

If you really want to get rid of that guilt then just go for a walk when you’ve finished your dinner. This will aid digestion and burn a few calories. It’s not going to get rid of a whole Big Mac, but it will help. You’ll also feel a lot less full before bed, which can help you get to sleep.

It’s okay to want a takeaway once in a while. Spoil yourself! Just make sure you follow these tips and you’ll be able to properly enjoy it. Without any guilt.
