We all have bad habits that we wish we could stop. The start of every year we are so set on changing for the better, and yet still find ourselves doing all the things we know we shouldn’t. Drinking

Drinking too much alcohol can have a bunch of negative effects on the body that will wear you down over time and cause you a lot of problems in the future. It is also very addictive, so once you start drinking excessively, it will be a lot harder to stop. It’s all about moderation. There is nothing wrong with going out on the weekend to celebrate and let your hair down while having a few drinks. But when it becomes a daily thing – that’s when a problem will form.

Try limiting yourself to five drinks a week. You can either split these up through your week or save them for a Saturday night. This will teach you not only control, but how to manage it.

Smoking

Smoking is unhealthy – everybody knows that. You are breathing in toxic smoke and chemicals into your lungs every time you take a drag. A lot of people associate smoking with relieving stress, but believe it or not, it isn’t actually the smoking that calms you down, it’s the deep breathing! Even though this has been proven, some people still don’t feel like it’s enough to just breathe, so this is where e cigarettes come in. They mimic smoking, minus all of the toxins which are replaced by e liquid. So if you’re not ready to stop completely just yet, try the new technology instead.

Fatty and carb loaded foods

Consuming a lot of fatty, starchy and carbohydrate full food like chips, pizza, and burgers are fine every now and then, but not everyday. Who doesn’t love takeaway? They’re not only an easy option which involves no effort, but they also taste so darn good. But think about all the money that you are wasting, when it’d cost half the price to cook your own dinner for a couple of days. Snacking is also a hard habit to stop, especially when your cupboards are full of chocolate. – This can be avoided when you’re at the supermarket. Instead of chocolate and sweets, buy some delicious fruit like apples, watermelon, and strawberries. These are just as easy to snack on, taste amazing, and are so good for you.

Now can you see that there are always better choices that you can make? No one expects you to be able to quit your bad habit cold turkey. That’s very difficult to do and may not actually be healthy to do so that way because your body will be shocked at the sudden change. So take it slow. As long as you are trying, and are visibly making a change, your body will thank you for it.
