Our gardens can be fantastic for a number of different reasons. They can be a place for kids to play and get some fresh air. They can be the home of our very own fruit trees and veggie patches so that we can grow-our-own! They can also be fantastic spaces for socialising and spending time with our friends and family.

So, how do you go about making your garden ideal for social occasions? Whether this is a Friday-night BBQ with friends or a summer party for the family, read on to find out more.

Hire a professional gardener

The bigger your garden, the more likely to are to want to help of a professional gardener. Even if your budget is relatively low, don’t discount this as an option. Word-of-mouth from friends, family or neighbours who have a gardener could lead you to somebody great! Professional gardeners also have the skills and know-how to make your garden look idyllic all year around. So, whether it’s blooming flowers in the summer or beautiful plants in the winter, they’ll be able to achieve this for you.

Have a log cabin installed

By installing a log cabin in your garden, you are making your garden usable all year around. It is also wise to spend that bit extra on fitting out your log cabin with things like insulation, heating and electricity points. Without these things, your log cabin will be an unappealing place in the colder, winter months. This is certainly not what you want. A log cabin means that you can socialise in your garden no matter the season and no matter the weather. Fit it out with some comfy sofas, and have some speakers installed onto the walls! Don’t forget a drinks table and some blankets and cushions to keep everybody warm.

Invest in a fire pit

Not only is a fire pit a fantastic centre-piece for a garden, but it also offers other uses! You can use it to keep everyone warm by gathering around it. Plus, the flames are a source of light when it gets darker in the evenings. You can even use yours to toast marshmallows as if you’re around a campfire. Propane fire pits are a great option, as they are affordable and safe.

Have some sort of water feature

The two best options for having water in your garden that you friends can enjoy are a swimming pool or a hot tub. Option one is more expensive than option two, but you also get a larger space. If you want to have a swimming pool in your garden, you’ll need to be prepared for a few weeks of disruption. That being said, once the work is done, the payoff is fantastic. You can have pool parties, and you can quit your gym and use your pool for exercise instead. Plus it’s a great place for kids to hang out. Alternatively, a hot-tub is cheaper and also less disruptive. However, it still allows for hot-tub parties or just relaxing under the stars after a long day!
