How to: rock a leather dress

I had a reader ask me on Twitter how she could wear her leather shift dress without looking like a ‘lady of the night’ or tragic from the 80s. It can be a tricky piece to wear but with a little know how you will be rocking it.
With it being so unseasonably warm for Autumn, I would just wear the leather shift dress on its own and add some cute flat leather sandals or wedges. For work or night time, add some heels or high heel strappy sandals like the celebs above.

Autumn/ Winter Work/ after 5 Style:
Easiest way to add a stylish look to leather is to add a jacket in this seasons colours of burnt orange, emerald, cobalt blue, grey, pastel pink, monochrome, purple, tweed, white or taupe.

My jacket picks:

Bardot Marais Jacket $139.95

Sussan Melton Jacket  Drk Mandarin $99.95>

Ankle boots are definitely a key component to the Autumn/Winter 2013 wardrobe. With a leather dress and opaque or patterned tights you will be kicking back in style heaven.

I am lusting after:

Lydia ankle boot from Forever New $99.95.

DFankle bootsZula

Diana Ferrari Zula $179.95
Casual outfit:  To ‘casualise’ a leather dress I don’t think you can go past a cute pair of flats and a cardi.
I’m slightly obsessed with these flats from Hush Puppies ‘Yoko loafers $109.95
I love this Italian stripe cardi from My Net Sale. $65 down from $385.

Dos:
Wear a statement necklace and jewellery to add interest to a plain leather dress.
Experiment with different textures and colours added to your leather dress.

Dont’s:
Wear knee high patent black boots with a leather dress. Nothing screams ‘Pretty Woman’ than these two teamed together.
Try an all-leather outfit—unless you’re into that whole biker-babe trend or indeed are a biker babe.
