Millions of Australian mums want more family time

Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Report reveals what mums want

Mothers tell us what they really want for Mother’s Day – and it’s not the traditional breakfast in bed! According to the Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Report# 75 percent of Aussie mums are hoping to spend time with their children with a  fun family outing this Mother’s Day, yet the majority of us (64 percent) are only planning a mere phone call to mum.

Insights from the Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Report shouldn’t be taken lightly, as the findings reveal that Australia is home to 6.45 million proud mums. The Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Report found that more than half of these Australian mums (53 percent) are particularly busy, admitting they work full-time or part-time in addition to being the primary caregivers.

Lindeman’s ambassador, well-known celebrity gardener and mother of two Meredith Kirton thinks the research findings suggest that Mother’s Day should be bigger than ever this year: “While a homemade card is still a delightful gift from children, it’s interesting to see that as workloads increase so too do our expectations for Mother’s Day.

“For me, Mother’s Day is about gorgeous flowers and the special memories that plants unlock.  For some, a bunch of Chrysanthemums is what Mother’s Day flowers are all about, but for me, it’s the yellow Polyanthus. Every winter Mum would plant these outside my bedroom window, and their delicate perfume would waft inside at night.  Mother’s Day heralds the beginning of their season.”

The Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Report coincides with the release of Lindeman’s Sweet Seasons, a uniquely fruity and refreshing style that mum will love. The range is an extension of the popular Lindeman’s Early Harvest range and consists of three distinct styles – Zibibbo, Blancello and Dulciana – all are at least 25% lighter in alcohol,* making them perfect to enjoy with sweet treats when entertaining this Mother’s Day.

This year Lindeman’s is celebrating Mother’s Day with an exclusive Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Picnic on Saturday 8th May 2010 at The Pavilion, Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. The event will be hosted by Today Show presenter Lisa Wilkinson and attended by celebrity mums and up to 200 women from around Australia. Guests will enjoy smooth sounds of James Morrison, and entertaining tips from Meredith Kirton and celebrity chef Dominique Rizzo.

Lindeman’s Brand Manager Andra Gough says the Lindeman’s Mother’s Day Picnic is the perfect opportunity to celebrate being an Australian mother, and to take some time out in the lead up to the official day: “Lindeman’s Sweet Seasons is the perfect drop for the lunch table this Mother’s Day, and what better way to celebrate than at a relaxed Saturday picnic with mums. We wanted to create an unforgettable experience for mums, who so often selflessly work for everyone but themselves.”

Lindeman’s Sweet Seasons is available nationally in time for Mother’s Day.
