Disney’s new epic adventure movie, OZ The Great and Powerful is due for release on the 8th March in cinemas nationally and I am really looking forward to seeing it.
There is just something magical about Disney movies, even those aimed at adults, like the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ series, which engulfs you into the story line and take you away from your every day life for a few hours.
The story is set pre Dorothy, where Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, thinks he’s hit the jackpot – fame and fortune are his for the taking – that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity – and even a bit of wizardry – Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

I think it sounds like a great story line with a feel good vibe to it.  Below is the official trailer:

To coincide with the launch of OZ The Great and Powerful, OPI have launched a soft shade limited edition range – Oz the Great and Powerful – which is bursting with magic and excitement designed to capture the magic and whimsy portrayed in the film.  The collection features soft neutrals in white, beige and pink combined with glittery shades of white, gold and silver.
With a mixture of soft crème and warm glitter shades, the range is ideal for layering to create rich complex nail art designs.

Which is Witch, a silver glitter lacquer with a magical iridescent sparkle.

Glints of Glinda, only a good witch could turn beige from bland to chic.

When Monkeys Fly! you will go bananas for this gold confetti.

Don’t Burst My Bubble, an irresistible white like puffs of clouds

Lights of Emerald City, like a white confetti spray bursting with excitement

I Theodora You, an adorable sheer pink that is bewitching.

And OPI’s new Liquid Sand formula, What Wizardry is This? – designed specifically for The Great Wizard – a rich taupe hue with reflective sparkle. OPI’s new Liquid Sand formula offers a textured matter finish with infused reflective sparkle.

As with all OPI nail lacquers, the shades inspired by Oz The Great and Powerful contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWideBrush.

  1. so much more fun being a bad witch… but of course wearing a disguise of a good witch! (insert evil laugh!)

  2. They say being bad is more fun,
    That’s not necessarily true…
Good witches don’t end up melting…
And doing good deeds can be fun, too!

  3. A bad witch. Less pressure to be perfect. Look at superheroes. Everyone turns on them eventually.

  4. A bad witch. Being good is entirely too much pressure. Just look at superheroes, everyone turns on them eventually.

  5. ^ wow, strange contact forms… fail / bad witches!!… bad, bad witches…

  6. A Good witch I’d have to be as I couldn’t act wicked by harming others and using my magic for my own benefit.

  7. A Good witch’ I’d have to be for I could not act wicked by harming others and using my magic for my own benefit.

  8. A good witch, a bad witch would only get to experience black nail colour and this prize would not interest her!

  9. A good witch .. to make this world a better place… and protect then from evil 🙂

  10. A good witch! Not only do you get to wear a sparkly ballgown but get to dabble in a colour palette of pinks, whites and metallics. The good witch’s wardrobe seems so fun and light hearted.

  11. My 9yo is convinced I am a bad witch already, because you know, 9. I do suspect the bad witches have more fun though!

  12. I would be a GOOD witch so I can paint my nails in silver and gold glitter but if I was a BAD witch I would have to wear dark boring colours and paint my nails in black too (BORING)

  13. I do have a broom (albeit not straw), a black cat that visits and my wardrobe is predominantly black, so I think the choice has been made for me!

  14. A GOOD Witch ~ so I can PAINT a PRETTY picture for the future and NAIL the art of utOPIa!

  15. I can’t say I want to be any kind of witch… But I’d definitely want to contribute something nice to this world, to make it a tiny bit better, a tiny bit more beautiful…

and of course, I’m entering because I super love these polishes and they would make my world a tiny bit happier, for sure 😉 Just being honest!

  16. A good witch, because I feel guilty enough if I step on a ant, let alone treat a person badly.

  17. I’d be a bad witch so James Franco – ehem, the Wizard! – would chase after me. Then I’d turn good for him and we’d married 😉
