Every year, one of my best friends and I go out for a mummy time out instead of exchanging gifts for Christmas, previous years we have gone shopping in the city and had high tea at the Sofitel (Melb) or lunch/ dinner and/ or a movie etc.
This year we decided to go to Cristina Re‘s Where a Girl Goes high tea event, which I was quite excited about as I got to dress up.
I wore a black Portmans dress which had a frill around the bottom and a bow at the top, a gorgeous nude coloured Forever New cardigan (which had lace down the front and pearl buttons) with beautiful nude and white heels from Leona Edmiston. My earrings and bracelet were also from Forever New. Anyway, enough about my outfit….
As you walk into Where a Girl Goes you are instantly in awe of the gorgeously girly, shabby chic style of the store. Not to mention the beautifully laid table with macaroons, cupcakes and chocolates.
First thing on my agenda was to obtain one of my two glasses of Brown Brothers Rosa Zibibbo. The delicious fruity bubbly was a welcome start to the day.
After a quick look around the store, we decided to put our names down for the complimentary tarot card or astrology readings, everyone had been so excited I had to wait a few hours for mine to be done. I learned this year was to be a year for changes in my career and she was right, it has been.
Onto the essential part of the day…. eating! We headed over to the food table… Oh my.. the spread was amazing! The cupcakes, chocolates and macaroons were to die for. The little strawberry cupcakes were divine! The table was set so beautifully with gorgeous flowers, pretty serving ware and stands. It was almost too pretty to touch… well almost! Yum!!
Waiting staff were also walking around with sandwiches, savoury food and scones with jam and cream.
Natalie Gauci (right), winner of Australian Idol 2007, provided the music. Natalie was fantastic.
Other activities you could take part in were: scrapbooking/ papercraft (I am sooo not a crafty person but it looked so pretty!) and you could also have a massage or have your nails done by the lovely ladies from Makeovers, Manicures and Martinis (The next thing on my list to do is a Makeovers, Manicures and Martinis Spoil Me Afternoon Tea which combines luxurious pampering treatments with a delicious afternoon tea in the stunning surrounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens or Fitzroy Gardens. How gorgeous would that be?) and I must say that the massage I had was the best massage I have ever had… it was so good!
Christina Re’s Where a Girl Goes will be holding more events next year including a special Mothers Day event… so keep an eye on here for further details!!
