WSS Style: Erstwilder Launches May Gibbs Jewellery Collection

I used to love reading May Gibb’s book when I was little. I grew up on a farm with huge gum trees and I used to imagine cute little babies living amongst the leaves, hiding from Banksia men.

2016 marked 100 years of May Gibbs’ first book Gumnut Babies – May’s marvellous Gumnut world filled with its tiny heroes, heroines as well as its notorious villains has fascinated generations of children since its first release – the stories of Gumnuts at the races, ballet and dancing balls are just some of the exquisitely illustrated stories she created that continue to delight children, parents and grandparents 100 years on.

In a first,  Melbourne based Erstwilder team May Gibbs’ classic and uniquely Australian characters were the perfect match for their collectable resin jewellery.
Marrying the quirkiness the Erstwilder brand has become locally loved for with the timeless appeal of May Gibbs’ most loved bush fairies, the collection includes a Snugglepot and Cuddlepie brooch ($34.95), earrings ($29.95), a Nuttybub pendant necklace, ($39.95), a Bib and Bub brooch ($34.95), a Wattle Babies brooch ($34.95), a Pink Boronia Baby brooch ($34.95) and a Ti Tree Baby brooch ($34.95).

“We are absolutely delighted to be collaborating with the May Gibbs brand on this limited edition collection of Erstwilder jewellery.  As designers and producers, creating this range was the perfect concept to work with – May’s characters are timeless and reproduce so well as fashionable and collectable jewellery pieces,” said Erstwilder’s Managing Director and Brand Manager, Marc Abrahams.
