Bras are one of the most highly sought after items for women in developing countries and the Berlei Bra Recycle Program allows women in developing African countries such as Kenya, where half the population lives on less than $1 per day, the opportunity to own something that has long been out of the reach, a bra. Most Australian women wear on average just three of 8 to 20 bras in their drawers.
With the help of BCR UK and no cost services from Australian courier company TOLL, recycled bras will be delivered to developing African nations and sold at an affordable price to local women. Not only does this initiative help to reduce landfill, but create employment opportunities in developing nations – and help other deserving women to access of a basic necessity. Plus, for every 10 bras recycled, $1 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA).
Simply pop your clean, wearable and unwanted bras into the special Berlei Bra Recycle Bins in Myer department stores and over 200 specialty stores around Australia and a cycle of support and giving begins.
And help spread the word and begin the cycle of support for women in Australia and around the world.
The Berlei Bra Recycle Program runs from May 1st to May 31st, so get recycling! Visit the Berlie website for more details: www.berlei.com.au.
