WSS Style: Essential Trans seasonal Pieces You Will Love
Autumn is certainly here but the weather has been a bit manic. Of course, I’ve been needing my trans-seasonal wardrobe. Cold mornings are turning into warm days, hot days followed by cold days, it’s hard to predict what to wear at this time of year.
In Melbourne, we need to be prepared for any type of weather, as it might be 28 degrees one day (after a very cold, single-digit, overnight temperature) and 12 degrees the next (or on the same day, if a change comes through). So, essentially, we know a thing or two about layering!
I’m also investing in staple wardrobe items that will not only see me out this year but the next few as well. Think of these 5 items as the perfect base for your winter and spring wardrobe.
1. Denim Jacket
A denim jacket is the perfect trans-seasonal piece. Pick one that suits your frame and style – this season’s versions are oversized, hip length or cropped, and in a variety of colours. We’re seeing a lot of different colours this season compared to the washed blue denim and white denim jackets we are used to seeing. From pastels to earth tones, we are seeing a wider choice of colours to choose from.
2. Blazer
Nothing is more classic than a blazer paired with a t-shirt and jeans. This highly versatile outfit can be dressed up or down with heels or sneakers for a polished casual look. Oversized boyfriend blazers are everywhere this season.
A blazer is perfect for work or play (as mentioned above) and can be worn with dresses, floral skirts and tops or as part of your work wardrobe with matching pants and skirts.
3. Trench Coat
4. Wide Leg Pants
3. Jeans
Of course, jeans are a mainstay in any wardrobe. On cooler days, we can team up a pair of comfortable jeans with a shirt and a knit (a trend that is huge this season!) or a simple t-shirt/ shirt/blouse on warmer days. The trend in denim this season seems to have no rules. Double denim is having its time in the spotlight again. When It comes to jeans, straight and wide-leg jeans are in (We’re even seeing boot leg jeans!). However, skinny jeans are out, but if you still love your skinnies and you feel good in them. then continue wearing them! There are no rules when it comes to personal comfort, style and what suits your body shape.
Personally, I tend to go for darker denim over the colder months. However, you can still wear your white jeans with a gorgeous knit and dark ankle boots. Black ankle boots look amazing with white jeans.
4. Shirts
The humble shirt is back in a big way this season
5. Sneakers
6. Sunglasses
