Boys Bedroom Lego Makeover

Tweens are very hard to buy for (and to sometimes deal with, to be honest) from shopping for clothes to birthday and Christmas presents, it really is hard to find age appropriate items that they will like. Tweens are out of the little child era; where soft toys and toys, in general, reined supreme. Mr 10 was really into Cars (the movie) when he was younger, so as you can imagine, we had the toys, clothing and bed covers plastered with Lightening McQueen and Mater. Mr 10 was really into Cars (the movie) when he was younger; so as you can imagine, we had the toys, clothing and bed covers plastered with Lightening McQueen and Mater. Sadly, he has well and truly outgrown this stage and is into Lego and playing games on his ipad, PS3 and XBox One.

We have been in our new house for a year now and thought it was time to get around to doing up the boys rooms. Mr 10 was first. With some help from Super Amart, we bought the Bronte bed and a mattress (below). While we were picking up the bed and mattress, I spotted the Eames replica chair (pictured above) as a clearance item for $10! I quickly grabbed that and it looks great with my old desk I repurposed out of the garage.

We decided to go with a Lego theme, as that is what he mainly plays with now. The Lego Universe picture and doona set were bought off ebay. The side table was also a repurpose out of our garage (it was Mr 20’s in our last house). The red cushion and blue throw were from Kmart.

The best part about the furniture is that they will still suit a growing child and teenager, in a few year I am presuming he will be like his older brother (Mr 13) and will want neutral bed covers and surfing posters or whatever interests they may have at the time.
