When we think about designing our dream home, most of the time, we’ll all start with the kitchen. Whether it’s because it can feel like the heart of a home, where we all gather to eat or because they can look so darn gorgeous, it’s hard not to want a kitchen of your dreams. But, more often than not, we think we can’t have one because the whole process will cost too much. In reality, that’s just not the case. You can create the kitchen of your dreams with a small or a large budget. You just need to know how, where to start and put in the time and effort required to get it done.

Update

First of all, if you think you can transform what you already have into the kitchen of your dreams, or you’re on a limited budget, you should try to salvage what you already have. You might have a relatively new kitchen, in terms of the fixtures and fittings, but you just want to take it all to the next level. Or, you might have cupboards and bench tops that needed updating. Either way, you can do a lot with paint, tiles and replacement bench tops or covers.

Remodel

If you really can’t save any part of the kitchen you currently have, then you might need to think about remodelling it. Maybe you really hate what you have, or you have a big budget to play with? Either way, you might want to work with a kitchen renovation company to help you design the kitchen of your dreams and choose all of the elements you need for it. If that sounds expensive, it doesn’t have to be. You can find kitchen designs to suit almost any budget if you really want to remodel.

Accessorise

Once you’ve worked on the basic layout and backdrop of your kitchen, you’re going to need to work it up to get it to the standard of your dreams. With the basic big appliances in, like a cooker and fridge, you’re going to want to think about adding in the smaller appliances and kitchen gadgets that will transform the room into a cozy kitchen. Things like a coffee station or bar area could also take your design to the next level.

Socialise

If you are designing your kitchen from scratch, you might want to think about the ways you can transform it into a social haven. Yes, your kitchen is a place to make great food and often eat with your family, but it can be so much more than that. You might want to think about utilising the space to social more – especially is a large, busy kitchen is the kitchen of your dreams. Or add an indoor/ outdoor eating area with bifold doors and durable aluminium furniture.

Economise

When you come to add in the design that you’ve dreamt about, you might also want to work on how it will function and run. There are so many ways to heat your home these days, but there are also so really economical ways to do it too. When the kitchen is being fitted, or you’re updating it, think about upgrading your heating system too, just to make sure the whole room as the right feel as well as style.
