How To Still Have Fun While Being Stuck At Home

When you’re stuck at home, it’s hard to have fun. You can’t go outside or do anything that really requires being mobile for more than a few metres. But don’t let boredom get the best of you! There are plenty of things you can do to pass the time and most of them don’t even involve leaving your house! Here are some ideas on how to make your days feel less like weeks and more like days again.

Modern Technology to The Rescue

If you have a phone then you are virtually set to have a good time while being homebound. There are so many games you can play without ever having to leave your house! Sudoku, crosswords, puzzles, and even strategy games can help you to pass the time. And if you’re really stuck for something to do, there’s always social media!

Having an extension cord and a comfy place to sit or lay down is enough for this thing to last for hours. Some games used to be solely available in dedicated establishments, such as casinos, but with the advent of the mobile, they can be accessed from the bedroom even. Others are more enjoyed in living company, such as some board games, but in a situation where you maybe don’t want your face to be seen (such as poker!) then the mobile version is better.

Board Games

Board games are classic fun, and a lot of them can be played with just a standard deck of cards. If you have siblings, friends, or even parents nearby, get together for some good old-fashioned fun. Monopoly, Scrabble, Chess, Checkers; the list goes on! Just make sure you have enough room to set up the game board.

Puzzles can also be done alone, but they are much more fun if someone is watching. If your parents, siblings, or children are there with you, see who can finish their puzzle first. Or watching them struggle might be just as amusing!

Movie Night

You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home for a good time! For all of you who are too tired to go out, but still want some entertainment, why not have a movie night at home? A comfy couch or bed is more than enough space for two people. And popcorn or other snacks will help make it more enjoyable.

Sitting on the couch with your partner while enjoying a good movie sounds like an ideal way to spend an evening in. Even if you’re just watching TV with them, that’s fine too. If you both share similar interests then what movies are airing could be just as entertaining as anything else!

Cook Something Special

One of the best things about being homebound is that you can take your time with everything. Cook something special that you wouldn’t normally have time to make. This could be anything from a complicated three-course meal to just cooking your favorite food. Experiment with new recipes, or even old ones! There’s no rush, so take your time and enjoy it.

If there’s someone you want to impress with your cooking skills, now is the perfect opportunity! Even if it doesn’t turn out quite right, they’ll still be impressed by the effort you put in. And who knows, maybe they’ll even give you a few pointers.

The problem arises when you are stuck at home and don’t have the necessary ingredients. This is where you would really have to get creative and start thinking of ways how to make a glorious dish with very limited supplies.

Do Some Basic DIY Repairs

If you’re handy with a toolkit then why not do some basic repairs around the house? This is a great opportunity to learn something new, and it can be fun too! Fixing things yourself always feels satisfying. And isn’t it all too common for people to put off some of those small jobs because they aren’t around the house for most of the day?

It’s also a good chance to save some money. If there are any small repairs that need doing, this is the time to do them. And if you’re not so confident in your abilities, then maybe ask a friend or family member for help. Two people are enough to do some basic things such as fixing a shelf, changing a lightbulb, or even repainting the walls. Those who are savvy with tools can do much more, of course.

Read a Book

Maybe there’s a new book that has been released recently that you’ve been dying to read, but it just never seems like the right time to do so. Now is your chance! If you have some spare time on your hands then why not catch up on some reading? Or even write something yourself! If this is one of those rare occasions where everyone else is asleep or not at home then take full advantage of this fact and use it as an opportunity to think without interruption.

Writing a book isn’t for everyone, so if you are one of those people who find it easier to express their thoughts on paper then why not use this time to write something? Whether it’s just a short story or an entry in your journal that you’ve been meaning to do, now is the time!

What could be more fun than sitting alone and writing about whatever comes to mind? It could be anything from how much you hate being homebound, to remind yourself of what happened today. Doing this regularly can make you feel refreshed by getting all those things down on “paper”, so to speak.

You may feel like your life is passing you by when you’re homebound and stuck inside for a period of time. However, there are plenty of things that can be done to beat the boredom! You could play some games on your phone or plan a cozy movie night with loved ones. Maybe even have a picnic in your living room or enjoy some peace and quiet with a good book. It doesn’t matter what it is – just make sure to still find ways to stay entertained while at home.
