Simple Ways To Start Getting Your Wardrobe Autumn And Winter Ready

It’s never too early to get your wardrobe ready for Autumn and Winter. Depending on where you live, you may be currently in the depths of extended summer weather and living in shorts and cool clothing. But even though the weather is hot outside, there are still things you can do to get yourself ready for the colder months. It’s also ideal to get prepared if you’ve just booked a long weekend getaway or an Easter break holiday. So here are some simple ways you can start getting your wardrobe Autumn and Winter ready:

Take an inventory

Each year we all spend money on season-appropriate clothing and over time we often forget what we have. The constant turnaround of our wardrobes means things get pushed to the back, never to be worn again. So before you go out and spend a fortune on new clothes for the Winter, take an inventory of what you already have. Take everything out of your wardrobe and reintroduce yourself to those items you had forgotten about. This should highlight any gaps within your Winter wardrobe and purchase essential items you need. It’s also the ideal opportunity to get rid of or donate clothes that you no longer wear.  This will provide you with more space and help make your closet more organised beforehand. Take the time to iron and hang up each item on it’s own hanger as you sort through. It might be beneficial to separate your holiday fashion essentials from your everyday clothes. This will ensure they don’t get snagged or creased.

Create some outfits

Now that you know exactly what you have to wear, it’s time to have some fun. Try on and experiment with your clothing to create some fabulous outfits to wear in cooler weather. Fashion is all about experimenting and having fun. So why not try on your favourite skirt with a different top or style your maxi dress in a new way. You could create a brand new look just by using what you already have. Look online and in magazines for styling and customising tips to give your wardrobe an edge. When you create these looks take a picture on your phone or camera and keep them inside your wardrobe door.  This will be ideal for days when you’re in a hurry or unsure of what to wear. Try to create at least 10 outfits that can be interchanged easily so you have plenty of variety to choose from.

Take care of your Summer clothes

While you’re creating a vibrant Autumn and Winter wardrobe, consider your Summer clothes too. Think about where you are going to keep them during the cooler months of the year. Before you start slowly putting them into storage, check for pulls, rips, or stains. Try to wash, repair, dry clean, and iron these items before putting them away. It might seem like a lot of effort now but it will save you time when the hot weather inevitably comes back.

Add some new items

Now that you have worked out what you have, now is the time to work out what you need. Shoes and boots usually need to be replaced yearly. If the shoes are good quality and only need minor fixes (like new heels or soles), you could take them to a shoe repair shop. The easiest (and budget-friendly) way to update your wardrobe is to add new accessories to update your look.  Ankle boots are a must-have for Autumn and Winter and go with anything.  Here are a few of our favourites:
