What to Watch on Streaming This September

September is shaping up to be a genuinely good month for staying in, which suits me just fine now that the weather’s still a bit unpredictable. I’ve gone through what’s landing across Prime Video, Apple TV+, Paramount+, Binge, Disney+ and Stan this month so you can plan your watchlist without endlessly scrolling. Here’s what’s worth your time.
Amazon Prime Video
Prime Video has a strong month for anyone who loves a book-to-screen adaptation or a spin-off done well. The Love Hypothesis brings the wildly popular romance novel to the screen, and if you’re already a Reacher fan, the new spin-off Neagley gives Reacher’s most memorable ally her own series to shine in, alongside a new season of Reacher itself continuing to roll out.
Apple TV+
Apple TV+ is leaning into tension this month. Slow Horses returns for its sixth season, still one of the smartest, driest spy dramas going around, and Mayday joins the platform as a new entry worth keeping an eye on. If you’re after something to binge in one sitting, the first season of Lucky, centred on a multi-millionaire’s world turned upside down, dropped in full in late August and is still very much worth catching up on. Ted Lasso is also continuing its fourth season for anyone who’s been following Coach Lasso’s return.
Paramount+
Paramount+ has a packed month across comedy, drama and reality. The third and final season of Colin From Accounts lands on September 10, and it’s a genuinely lovely way to say goodbye to Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer’s Australian rom-com. For something with more bite, MobLand returns for a second season on September 18, with Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan all back for Guy Ritchie’s crime drama. There’s also a new local iteration of the supernatural sitcom with Ghosts Australia premiering September 14, plus new seasons of Survivor and The Amazing Race for reality regulars, and Scary Movie makes its streaming debut on September 3 if you’re after something a bit more tongue in cheek.
Binge
Binge keeps its reputation for atmospheric Australian drama alive this month, with the second season of High Country: What Lies Beneath arriving September 14. There’s also a new reality series, Apocalypse, joining the lineup for anyone after something a little different from the usual format.
Disney+
Disney+ has a couple of big ones this month. Hulu’s Chad Powers returns for a second season, and Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu makes its direct-to-streaming debut, a must for anyone who’s missed Mando and Grogu’s adventures since the last season wrapped. The first season of Furious, following an FBI agent on the hunt for a calculating serial killer, is also now available in full if you’re after a proper binge.
Stan
Stan has a packed month too. Trigger Point returns for a fourth season on September 1, with Vicky McClure’s Lana Washington and the explosive defusal unit facing what’s billed as their toughest challenge yet. Love Island USA fans get the season eight reunion, hosted by Andy Cohen and Ariana Madix, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK launches its eighth season with twelve new queens competing for the crown. Later in the month, Outlander: Blood of My Blood returns for season two, picking up with Henry and Julia as they try to find their way back to baby Claire.
My Pick of the Month
If I had to choose just one, it’s the final season of Colin From Accounts. It’s rare for a comedy to stick the landing, and from what’s been teased, this one looks like it will.
