In 1920’s, Coco Chanel revolutionised the world of fake tanning as she returned from the French Riviera with a glowing bronzed tan. This gave way to a whole new era of social standing. It was no longer deemed fashionable to withhold a pale complexion. Coco declared that “A girl simply has to be tanned”.
