WSS Opinion: No, Kim! Women Aren’t Bitches Or Sex Toys
I was quickly scrolling through Facebook, and drinking my first coffee, this morning while the boys were getting ready for school and one story in particular really made me angry.
Kim Kardashian has come out to say Taylor Swift was lying about not giving Kanye West permission to use her name in his song “Famous”. Right, because Taylor would have approved these lyrics “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex” “Why? I made that b**ch famous.”
Kim then went on to say she doesn’t see anything wrong with the lyrics or the term “bitch/bitches”. What? This is what made me angry.
Honey, there is EVERYTHING wrong with a man calling a woman a bitch. It is misogynist and is almost always said in a derogatory connotation. I don’t care if rappers have been using the term for the last 30 years, if women want equality, then we have to stand against these type of words and lyrics. Women aren’t bitches, sexual objects or pieces of meat just to be used for a man’s pleasure (which most rap songs are about in regard to women). Sure, a woman can act like a bitch (which is usually used as a term for an intelligent, strong, opinionated woman) but the actual definition of “bitch” is “a female dog”. Obviously, as group of female dogs would be a group of bitches.
How can she be ok with her husband saying that he will have sex with someone else and a woman should thank him for making her famous by sleeping with him? I think it is funny that he actually thinks Taylor would have sex with him anyway, I mean, as if.
Also, that fact that he thinks he made her famous is hilarious and somewhat deluded. Really, Dude? You made yourself look like a tool getting up on stage and declaring Beyonce to be the “greatest performer of all time”. Taylor was well and truly on her way to being one of the most successful artists of our time, as she has prove the last few years.
Also, Taylor shouldn’t have to have sex with him because he “made” her famous (well, in his mind). Really? Are we still doing this in 2016? A woman has only become successful because of a man, or because she has had sex with a man, or is obligated to have sex with a man, in exchange for said success? Yeah, no! Give credit where credit is due. Women are quite capable of success without men or using their bodies.
Personally, I think Kim has low self esteem issues and tries to stay relevant way too often. If she isn’t in the headlines, she quickly pulls out something to make sure she is. Like getting naked for the bijillionth time. Guess what, Kim, everyone has seen it and to be honest, people are sick of seeing your butt and boobs on display all the time.
Really, have some respect for yourself and your kids. I’d also hate to think of what she is teaching her daughter, when she spends a lot of time taking selfies or on snapchat etc. Not to mention young girls who follow her and her sisters. That you can only succeed in life if you receive constant adulation and approval from others because of how you look? That is it ok for men to call women bitches and see women as sex objects? What a sad indictment on society if this is how we are supposed to live. Narcissistics anonymous anyone?
But I guess, when you have only become famous for a sex tape, getting photographed naked and taking selfies, she wouldn’t know anything else.
