The Best Ways To Give Your Body Confidence A Boost

Summer is on the way, which means that soon enough it will be bikini time. For us ladies, the summer can be a real struggle if we’re not happy with our bodies. The truth is, when it comes to bikini season, a lot of us lose confidence. The problem is that we don’t always look like the women on the catwalks or in magazines, we have our own unique body shapes. This means that when we see ourselves in swimwear, we feel that because our bodies don’t resemble models, that they aren’t good enough.

Let me first say that no matter what your shape or size, you need to love yourself. We’re all built differently, just like we all have different hair colours and types, being different is a part of life. That being said, it doesn’t always make it any easier to feel happier or more confident in your swimwear, does it? It might be hard boosting your self-esteem and gaining the confidence to strut your stuff on the beach in your swimwear, but it is possible. To help give your body confidence a boost, I thought I would share some tips.

Be healthy

Being healthy is, surprisingly, linked to self-confidence. Studies have shown than women who lead a healthy lifestyle are twice as likely to be body confident. This is because when you’re feeding your body with the right nourishment, you feel better about yourself. Of course, eating healthily often leads to the loss of excess fat, but this isn’t the reason behind the link between confidence and health. According to mental health experts, two women of the same size will have different confidence levels depending on what they eat. The reason for this is simple; when we eat healthily, we feel good about ourselves.

Exercise regularly

Linking back to being healthy, exercising also helps to boost self-confidence. This could be linked to the fact that when we exercise our bodies tend to be in better shape, however, this isn’t the primary reason. Exercise leads to the release of endorphins, these help to boost mental health, and can increase body confidence. Whether you love to run or prefer to practice yoga, it doesn’t matter. It’s just important to exercise on a regular basis if you want to boost your confidence.

Look after your skin, hair and nails

When you’re in swimwear, a lot of your body is exposed. If you want to feel good on the beach, it’s important to take the time to look after your skin, hair and nails. These might not seem like big things but if you want to feel good about yourself, it’s important to take care of them. Before hitting the beach, take the time to shave your legs, arms and bikini line, followed by exfoliating and moisturising. This will make your skin look and feel beautifully soft and smooth. As for your nails, take the time to manicure your fingers and toes, so that they are smart and beach-ready. For your hair, apply a small amount of hair product – argan oil works well, and give your hair that beautiful beachy look.

Apply fake tan

There’s a reason you always feel more confident when your skin’s tanned and that’s because it makes you look better. There’s something about tanned skin that slims down your body and blurs imperfections. Making it easier for you to feel good about yourself. If you want to love your beach body, a great thing to do is apply fake tan. You can choose to use a cream tan that gradually builds up, an instant tan, or a spray tan, it’s completely up to you. You’ll find that by bronzing up your skin; you’ll feel happier and more confident in your swimwear.

Change the feature that gets you down

Body confidence might be about learning to love yourself for you, but if there’s a feature you just can’t move past, it could be time to change it. If the reason for your lack of self-esteem is something simple, like your weight, changing it isn’t difficult. It just takes a few smart lifestyle changes and you can change your weight for the better. However, if it’s something like the size of your breasts that is knocking your confidence, changing them isn’t as easy. Surgery should never be a decision made lightly, as all procedures come with a risk.

Buy swimwear that’s flattering

Last but not least, if you want to feel beach body confident, it’s crucial that you pick the right swimwear. Every figure is different, which means that when it comes to selecting swimwear, we don’t all look good in the same type of swimming costumes. To work out what type of swimwear looks good on you, it’s more often than not a case of trial and error. Try on a few different swimsuits and see which one looks best and makes you feel the most confident.

When it comes to looking and feeling good when on the beach, it’s not always easy. Especially, for us ladies as there’s a lot of pressure on us about how our bodies should look. To boost your confidence and ensure that you feel good while on the beach, take the above tips on board. Trust me, you’ll feel happier and more confident for it.
