With Spring just around the corner, usually we are looking at ways to get rid of the Winter blues with maybe a new exercise regime, diet, a new hairstyle or even a new hair colour.

Although, do it yourself hair colouring is quite scary to some people, it is actually quite simple to achieve a beautiful new hair colour yourself and a lot more affordable than getting a hair colour by a hairdresser, which may be up near the $200 mark for a full colour, cut and style. Doing it yourself is also less time consuming. No trip to the hairdresser, waiting for the colour to work and then the style. You might lose two hours or more out of your day. An at-home colour will only take you half an hour at the most. We love things that save us time and money!

Of course, if you walk into any store such as Priceline, here are hair colours galore; but what is the right colour for you? Is it caramel blonde or rather light brown? How about some reddish nuances? Would ash hues look better? Maybe the new pastels trend is more your thing?

Seriously, little can go wrong with hair colouring at home. Still, it makes sense to read the package insert thoroughly. Make sure to stay within the specified application time.  If the colouring agents are washed out too early your hair may show an orange or yellowish tinge. Leaving the colour in your hair for too long is going to damage your hair.

So, how do you colour your hair at home? The Schwarzkopf website has a wealth of information on it: https://style-studio.com.au/colour_college/  As well as colouring advice, the site offers how to’s, hair inspiration, celebrity trends and a lot more!
