The Generous Shopper. Win a silk scarf.
Did you know Australian’s spend $14 billion online every year? Yes, fourteen billion dollars. That’s a lot of money! Wouldn’t it be great if you could donate to a charity while you shop without costing you a cent? What, I hear you ask? How can I do that?
Well, a clever couple have come up with a way to donate to charity while you shop. It is called The Generous Shopper.
What exactly is The Generous shopper?
The Generous Shopper ecommerce platform – the first of its kind in Australia – is the brainchild of husband and wife team, Sarah and Arunava Chatterjee, who wanted to tap into the $14 billion that Australians are spending online every year. Forged by their desire to give back and develop a business that matters, the two devised The Generous Shopper. Their dream is for every major brand worldwide to partner with The Generous Shopper so that a percentage of retail profits will be redirected towards others who need a helping hand
And the best part? It doesn’t cost shoppers or charities a cent. The retailers donate a percentage of each dollar spent by online shoppers to The Generous Shopper, which distributes funds to charity.
How does it work?
The process is simple and secure (The Generous Shopper website is SSL/TLS encrypted, PCI compliant and certified and verified by SiteLock.). Shoppers register for free at www.thegenerousshopper.com to become a generous shopper and pick their charity of choice.
They download the plugin to their browser, which automatically recognises when customers are visiting a shopping partner website. A percentage of every purchase made by a Generous Shopper on a shopping partner’s website is then channelled to their charity of choice.
Generous Shoppers will enjoy exclusive discount offers. Each quarter, customers will receive a report by email or can log on to see how much they’ve raised for charity.
More than 900 retailers have partnered with the new Australian venture that could see consumers channel millions of dollars to charity through an online shopping platform. Expedia, THE ICONIC, ASOS, Katies, Pillow Talk, Rebel Sport, Dan Murphy’s, Estee Lauder, Interflora and Weight Watchers are some of the big names working with The Generous Shopper.
The Generous Shopper has partnered with eight Australian charities on launch: Assist a Sista, Beyond Blue, CARE Australia, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Destiny Rescue, Good Return, Habitat for Humanity and World Animal Protection.
To celebrate the launch on The Generous Shopper (and Woman of Style and Substance), the lovely team at The Generous Shopper are giving away two silk scarves valued at $100 each (one to be given away on Woman of Style and Substance, the other on our Instagram account http://instagram.com/womanofstyleandsubstance ).
These exquisite silk scarves are Advika originals. Designed by Romanian artist, Alexandra Rapcenciu, her intricate water-colour paintings have been digitally printed onto the finest silk crepe de chine. The epitome of wearable art. Competition opens at 5pm 21/11/14 and closes 30/11/14 at midnight.
Terms and conditions: The Generous Shopper giveaway is a game of skill and winners will be chosen randomly via Rafflecopter. The competition opens 21/11/14 5PM EST and closes on 30/11/14 at midnight EST. One entry per person. Australian entries only, sorry. I am always looking at the shops for other people and rarely for myself,
I love to pick up special indulgent gifts, to give to friends, family,

I like to shop at places that are fair trade and support local small business as well as charities. If I ever have an excess of stuff at home I like to donate them.

I love to make a b-line for the bargains. That way I can maximise my dollars and make the love spread so much further, buying a variety of goodies to treat my family and friends. And if at the end of the year I have an item or three left over I like to put them under the Target Christmas Tree for others to enjoy on Christmas Day.
