How to: Reese Witherspoon’s Oscars look
Celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern created a “radiant, sexy and effortless” look for Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee, Reese Witherspoon, at the 87th Annual Academy Awards.
FACE: Healthy, radiant skin Stern then applied NEW Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation in Suntan, to ensure Witherspoon’s complexion was “natural and fresh looking.” She used a shade darker than usual to give the actress’ skin a “warmed up sun smooched feeling.”
EYES: Matte and neutral eyes For Witherspoon’s eyes, Stern shaded and softly smoked them out with nude tones all over the lids, blending into the crease to create depth without darkness.She began by applying Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Café Au Lait, as a base and then layered Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Truffle, on top.
Next, she blended the two hues, keeping the depth of colour at the base of the eyes and buffed the outer edges, giving the eyes a soft richness.
She then deepened the lash line by mixing Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Noir and Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Coffee Ground, which intensified Witherspoon’s blue eyes, and coated her lashes twice using Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black.To give the lashes a softer intensity, she painted highlights into the lashes using a brown mascara.
LIPS: Fresh, bright nude To complete the look, Stern applied NEW Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Nude Rose to the lips to create the base and then added Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Peche, which added a “hint of light brightness.”
