Lovers Romantic Getaway

Every now and then you just need to get away from it all, with the one you love, and completely forget about the world. I’m sounding somewhat like a Snow Patrol song, aren’t I?

As a Redballoon experience blogger, I was asked to pick from the vast menu of experiences RedBalloon has to offer. For us, it was quite simple. We picked a winery escape as a romantic weekend getaway via the RedBalloon site. Views, wine, food, solitude = perfect for some ‘us’ time.

As soon as you drove up the long sweeping driveway, past sheep, cows and horses you instantly feel calmer. As you approached the winery, you see the beautiful gardens and homestead to your left. It was love at first sight!

We entered reception and were greeted by the lovely Suzanne. Unfortunately, the winery had lost all of their power for the morning and she was trying to get up to date with the check outs etc from that morning but she was lovely and nothing was ever a problem. I love when you go somewhere and the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. There is nothing worse than hospitality staff who clearly don’t want to be there.
We received our room key and ventured to our room. A spa bath bathroom and a huge king size bed awaited us.

The TV was rather on the small side and hard to see from the couch, let alone the bed but who goes away to spend a weekend watching TV?
We decided to go for a walk around the property and the views and garden didn’t disappoint. Although, it was quite dry being summer and we have had little rain the last few months, the views were still stunning.
The homestead (the original homestead on the property) was beautiful and set amongst gorgeous English cottage style gardens.

The weather was lovely for wondering around in the sun. By 5pm we were starting to get thirsty and hungry, so we ventured off to have a wine tasting. It was quite interesting to learn about the wines they produce and the Moscato was lovely!

Back to the room to change for dinner and off to the barn style restaurant.

To say the food was to die for would be an understatement! Lamb cutlets for entree, pumpkin cannelloni for main and petite fours for dessert. I was soo full, I could hardly roll myself back to the room! Pictures of the food:

Food porn, yes? It was amazing!

Safely back in the room, I was able to watch wild rabbits outside the door/window. Bunnies… bunnies everywhere!

The rest of the evening was spent watching a comedy gala and sleep. As one does…

Next morning, I slept in until 8am (considering I’m awake at 6am most days, this was a sleep in for me!). I left my partner to sleep and ventured into the leisure room to make myself a coffee and sit outside and enjoy the peace, tranquility and views. It was lovely!! No… ‘Muuuuum’, No ‘Hurry up and get ready’ ‘s.. just me and nature.
