Victoria Beckham Max Factor AW14 make up looks

To coincide with Victoria Beckham’s pre release of eight of her AW14 collection, we show you how to achieve the look Victoria wanted for her models for her collection showing at New York Fashion week.

The collection showcased aesthetics of modern architecture and the merging of boyish versus girlish sensibilities: the exploring of new proportions and silhouettes, streamlined and balanced shapes and lines, and the juxtaposition of masculine elements and feminine perspectives.

Just like the autumn/winter collection that floated down the runway, this hair and make-up is all in the detail. Stripped back back yes, but with clever flicks of highlight, shadow, shine and gleam for a polished, considered, take on last year’s raw, beauty. This is extreme, chic, new age glamour and we should expect more of it.

Max Factor make-up artist Pat McGrath created the look for the showcase, and she’s revealed the products she used to create the look as well as a instructional video on how to achieve the look.

Ultra-polished, understated glamour. The look this season is incredibly natural, with Victoria saying she found inspiration from the supermodels themselves: “I loved how gorgeous and naturally beautiful the girls were when they came in for their castings.”

Pat used Max Factor’s new Luminous Foundation to create a lit-from-within look. She worked it into the skin before rubbing it off the cheeks and eyelids to let the natural warmth of the model’s skin tone show through. Next, she applied a touch of Masterpiece Colour Precision Eye Shadow in Pearl Beige, to the cheek bones and cupid’s bow to give a highlighting effect.

Eyes were brightened by applying Eye Luminiser Concealer under the eyes to remove any dark circles, and lids were enhanced using a wash of brown toned shadow to add extra-tonal dimension. Apply Masterpiece Colour Precision Eye Shadow in Coffee on the lids and blend into the crease and then add a touch of Lipfinity Lip Colour topcoat on top of the eyeshadow for a subtle sheen.

Subtly lifted lashes gave the essential finishing touch to the eyes. Pat used Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara on the roots only; Applying mascara to the roots alone gives extra definition to the lash lineshe says.

Here Pat shows us what went on behind the scenes and how to achieve the look yourself:

I love what Pat says at the end of the video. “Modern glamour is all about being yourself, using products to create that perfect self”. In other words, true beauty and glamour comes from within.
