It happens when the pores are clogged with dead skin or oils and it appears as a red bump with no head. It’s not advisable to pop them, as they can cause a lot more damage if you do.

4. Nodules

Nodules are a more severe type of papules that can become quite painful. They are more severe due to the fact that they start deeper inside the skin.

In this type of acne, there is no pus present. They’re usually hard rather than soft.

5. Cysts

One of the most severe types of acne that you can experience is cystic acne. They have many of the same characteristics as other types of acne, but the effects are much more dramatic.

Cystic acne is large and the cysts are filled with pus. They may be painful and cause discomfort.
