Winter Hair Nightmares: 4 Ways to Prevent Split Ends This Season
Split ends are exactly what they sound like: your hair strands become damaged and the tips start splitting into two thinner strands.

But why does it happen?
Well, there are many reasons that can lead to the splitting of your hair strands and one of them is the onset of winter.

1. Get Regular Trims
If you want your hair to grow as long as possible, going to the hair salon to get a haircut might seem like a scary thought. What if they cut too much?!

2. Keep Your Hair Moisturised
If your hair tends to be dry, your chances of getting split ends are slightly higher. For this reason, it’s important that you actively try to keep moisture in your hair and there are a few ways you can do this.
Try out some dry hair remedies, like using dry shampoo instead of washing your hair or going for a leave-in conditioner, and drink water regularly to hydrate the hair from the inside as well.

3. Beware of the Fabrics You Use on Your Head
Colder temperatures call for warm beanies and hats. However, certain fabrics can increase your risk of getting split ends.
If you wear a fabric that’s too heavy, it’ll pull your hair and cause it to become more fragile, and your ends might suffer the consequences.
4. Don’t Wash Your Hair Too Often
Since you know that split ends can be caused by a lack of moisture in your hair, you might feel tempted to start washing it more regularly and try to keep it hydrated this way.
However, that’s a no-no!
Washing your hair too often will ultimately lead it to dry out by stripping out oil and moisture, which is not good for those ends.
