The Saucy Italian.
We use a lot of tinned tomatoes in this house and I mean a lot! Pasta dishes, casseroles, cacciatori, soups.. tinned tomatoes are an essential item in our pantry. Recently I found the Mutti range and they are probably the best tinned tomatoes we have tried.
A few nights ago, I tried the Spicy Italian Meatballs recipe from the Mutti website.
The website is fantastic and has so many great recipes on it. I am always getting stuck on what to make the family for dinner and any help with that is always handy.
The Spicy Meatballs were a huge hit with the boys, so I thought I would share the recipe with you:
Ingredients for 4 people
450g of minced pork
400g of Mutti Polpa – Finely chopped tomato pulp
1 egg
1 spring onion
1 clove of garlic
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder
1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
seed oil for frying
coriander
salt
Finely dice the spring onion and mix it with the meat, garlic, half of the chilli powder, cumin seeds, breadcrumbs, egg and salt, in a bowl.
Roll the mixture obtained into balls. In a pan heat the seed oil and fry over high heat for a few minutes.
Meanwhile cook the Polpa – Finely chopped tomato pulp with the remaining chilli powder and a generous sprinkling of salt. Add the meatballs to the sauce and leave them to flavour in the sauce for a few minutes. Serve the meatballs hot with a sprinkling of chopped fresh coriander.
All you have to do is purchase a Mutti Polpa 2 pack product in specially marked “Win A Trip To Italy’ packaging from a participating Coles supermarket nationally before 11:59pm AEST on 31/08/2013 during the Promotional Period.
