Ways To Reduce Premature Skin Ageing

Every woman wants to have flawless skin and we often look at celebs who are well in their 50s and envy them for it. Of course, we tell ourselves that they are able to maintain their perfect, wrinkle-free skin with expensive procedures and pricey products, but actually, there are many steps we can take (that don’t cost a fortune) to reduce premature skin ageing. As we age, our skin changes and becomes thinner and drier. However, there are other factors that also cause our skin to lose its youthfulness, and with some lifestyle changes you can reduce their effect and slow down the ageing of our skin.

The sun – friend or foe?

Of course, spending time outdoors in the sun can benefit you greatly, but it can also cause your skin to age more quickly than it normally would. Maybe lying on the beach for hours is your idea of an ideal vacation, but it surely has its downsides. The sun, unfortunately, causes our skin to age prematurely, so you need to protect your skin any way you can. Seeking shade, wearing sunscreen every day (not only when you are on a vacation), and accessorising with a wide-brimmed hat during those hot, summer days are just some of the ways you can help your skin.

Find skincare products that work for you

If you have a product that stings or burns when you apply it, it means it is irritating your skin and therefore making it look older. Invest in creams with natural ingredients that are free of additives like parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. If you have no clue where to look for an affordable yet effective product, you can find it on this site. Apart from anti-ageing creams, you should invest in a quality facial moisturiser that you will then apply every day.

Get a healthier tan

Roasting in the sun is one way to get that chocolate skin, but it is also a great way to prematurely age your skin. Therefore, instead of lying in the sun or a tanning bed, opt for tanning creams that will instantly give you that sun-kissed look without unwanted side effects.

Quit smoking

If you are a smoker, you should know that this habit is not just affecting your health, but your beauty as well. It speeds up the ageing process and causes wrinkles and a dull complexion.

Eat a well-balanced diet

It has been proven that eating healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables can prevent damage that leads to aged skin. In addition, studies suggest that eating too much sugar and refined carbohydrates can speed up the ageing process and make you look older than you are. Therefore, instead of opting for frozen TV dinners, burgers, chips, and other junk foods, make a decision to prepare yourself a home-cooked meal at least four times a week.

Lay off the booze

Just like you should pay attention to what you eat, you should choose your beverages wisely as well. For example, sugary drinks are bad for your skin, and so is alcohol.  If you have noticed that you are completely dehydrated after a wild night, keep in mind that your skin feels the same way. Alcohol dehydrates it and leads to damaged skin.

Be gentle

Although you should scrub your skin every other day to remove dead cells and give it that refreshed look, you don’t need to be too rough. In fact, scrubbing too hard can irritate your skin and therefore accelerate skin aging.

It is never too late to implement these habits into your lifestyle! Even if you already have signs of premature skin aging you can make important changes and start turning back the clock.
