If you head into any retail store at the moment, you will see a huge trend towards jewel hued tones this year. From burgundy and berry tones through to blues. Dark, rich colours are making a huge statement.
One colour to stand out from the other are blue hues (think royal blues and dark teal), in which we have seen velvet royal blue and teal chairs and lounges have a popular resurgence. You don’t need to go all out and buy new cabinetry, painting walls or buying new furniture to get the latest looks. Easily update your home with wall art, throws, cushions, new bedding, decor pieces and small appliances.

Adding wall art instantly lifts a room and we are loving these gorgeous moody blue prints.
Cushions and Throws
Just as adding art to a wall can instantly change a room, so can updating cushions and throws. Blue hued accessories go well with just about any sofa or lounge suite colour too.
Blue home decor items add a Hamptons style luxury to the tops of side boards, table and coffee tables. We love blue decor items for their ability to add classic style to any home. How cute is the flower vase?
It’s no wonder that after neutrals such as white, grey and black, blue is the most popular colour for decorating bedrooms. And what makes blue even more praise worthy is its adaptability. Match it with just about any other colour; it just works. Use it with any decorating theme; blue can handle it. There’s always a blue combination that right for your home.
Our bathroom is mainly cream and browns and blue bathroom accessories match well with the colour pallet but blue towels and accessories would also blend in well with most bathroom shades, particularly white.
When used in your kitchen, blue will add a touch of drama and mystery, yet feel refreshing when paired with uplifting shades like white, silver or the latest in gold taps, sinks and hardware or classic chrome hardware. Blue is also a terrific accent colour, and add the perfect amount of contrast when used on statement spaces like back splashes and cabinetry.
