A 9 Step Guide on How to Have Healthy Looking Skin

Having flawless, glowing skin is probably a life goal for almost everyone. Unfortunately, this widely spread desire can often be difficult to achieve. Many people struggle with different types of skin conditions and issues that stand in the way of them having good skin.

However, this goal is not as unattainable as most people might think. Although it won’t be an overnight process, it is more than possible to have beautiful skin. Keep reading to check out this guide on 9 steps to take to have healthy looking skin.

1. Stay Hydrated

The signs of dehydration show up on your body in multiple ways. One of those ways is causing your skin to shrink, shrivel and dry up. It can create fine lines and wrinkles, as well.

Staying hydrated is important for having healthy looking skin. When you have a good amount of water intake and eat foods that are high in water, your skin becomes more plump and supple.

A good rule of thumb for getting enough daily water intake is to drink half of your body weight in ounces. For instance, if you weigh 64kgs then you would try to drink at least 2 litres of water per day. Start early to help you reach your goal and to avoid too many late-night trips to the bathroom.

2. Develop a Regimen

When you have a goal that you want to reach you usually come up with a plan of execution, right? Taking care of your skin is no different. It’s important that you develop a skincare regimen to stick to on a daily basis.

You may not get it right the first time but try a few different product combinations to figure out what your skin likes. Once you have done this, do your best not to switch it around too much, as this could cause adverse effects. The key factor here is to make a plan and stick to it.

Consistency is key for healthy looking skin.

3. Exfoliate Correctly

Sometimes your skin will look clean on the surface but underneath it could be clogged and inflamed. Leaving dead skin cells sitting for too long can cause bacteria and dirt to get stuck beneath the surface. This is why it’s important to exfoliate your skin regularly.

Be sure not to scrub your skin too roughly during exfoliation to avoid making it raw or irritated. Choose face washes that help with clarifying for a mild daily prevention technique.

4. Choose the Right Moisturiser

If you want to have healthy looking skin that shines and glows then you absolutely can not skip out on moisturizing appropriately. Applying moisture to your skin reduces the chances of you struggling with symptoms that come with dryness and excessive oil.

But every moisturiser is not made equally so you’ll need to find out which is the right choice for your specific skin type. Do you have dry skin, oily skin or maybe a combination of the two? Take this into account when adding a moisturiser to your daily skincare routine.

5. Always Remove Makeup

After a long day of work, school or life in general sometimes it’s an inconvenient extra step to take off your makeup. But sleeping into makeup can prevent you from having healthy looking skin.

The makeup can start to irritate your skin and clog your pores if it sits on your face too long. Even if you use quality skincare lines like skin boost products you still need to remove it before bed.

6. Use a Toner

Toners are often underrated factors to a healthy looking skincare regimen. You can find an affordable skin toner to help with evening your overall skin tone and decreasing the appearance of blemishes and scars.

7. Wear Sunscreen

Throughout life, we are typically exposed to the sun more times than we would be able to count. Since the sun is such a powerful element of nature, it can greatly affect the health and appearance of our skin. The sun can cause spots and signs of ageing to speed up.

It is also a known agent in causing skin cancer. Keep your skin and your health safe by using sunscreen when you leave out of the house. Remember to still apply protections even if there is an overcast.

8. Keep a Balanced Diet

You may know that your skin is the largest organ on your body. Typically our organs function best when we are giving them what they need, such as healthy foods, water, and exercising. This same concept applies to keep healthy looking skin.

The things that you put in your body will show up in your skin. Be sure that you are filling yourself up with fruits, veggies and other whole foods that provide you with the right amount of vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive.

Try to avoid overconsuming dairy and sugar, as it can cause inflammation, redness, and puffiness of the skin.

9. Do Face Masks

Doing weekly or monthly face masks is not only a good way of getting healthy looking skin, but it also is a great way to pamper yourself.

There are lots of different kinds of masks that help to repair, replenish and hydrate the skin. Face masks are designed to reach beneath the surface to nourish your skin on a deeper level by removing oils and pulling out impurities. Treat your skin and yourself to a face mask.
