Our immune system plays an important role in our overall health and wellbeing. If our immune system isn’t functioning well, we are susceptible to becoming unwell.
In fact, our immune system is essential for our survival. Without an immune system, our bodies would be open to attack from bacteria, viruses, parasites, and more. It is our immune system that keeps us healthy as we drift through a sea of pathogens.
The immune system is a complex network of cells and proteins that defends the body against infection. The immune system keeps a record of every germ (microbe) it has ever defeated so it can recognise and destroy the microbe quickly if it enters the body again. Clever, isn’t it?
Unfortunately, our immune systems can be compromised by lifestyle factors such as stress, travelling, tiredness and being around sick people and kids (the joys of being a parent or carer! My youngest son has already been sick three times this year).
So, what can we do to support our immune system?
As with our general wellbeing, a healthy lifestyle is key to having a healthy immune system.
- A diet high in fruit and vegetables, fibre and protein (including produce that are high in Vitamin C and Zinc). Regular exercise (at least 3 times a week. However, it has been found that a half hour daily walk is sufficient).
- Plenty of water.
- Eight hours of sleep.
- Sufficient Vitamin D from exposure to the sun (it is recommended your skin be exposed to at least 10 minutes of sun exposure a day. More in the winter months. If you aren’t getting enough Vitamin D, a supplement is highly recommended, especially those in the southern states like Victoria and Tasmania However, please be sure to talk with your doctor before adding these supplements as too much of some vitamins and minerals can be harmful).
Speaking of supplements, as we mentioned above, if you aren’t getting enough Vitamin C, D and Zinc, it might be time to add these supplements to your daily routine.
A proven way to support your body’s immune system is by adding Wellmune® yeast beta glucans to your diet. Adding yeast beta glucans to your wellness routine is an easy, specific, and proactive step to help support the health of your immune system. Wellmune is a research-backed immune support ingredient that can be found in foods, beverages, and supplements.
Keep in mind, not all yeast beta glucans are effective at supporting your immune system. Research suggests the effectiveness of immune-modulating properties of baker’s yeast beta glucans, but not all yeast beta glucans are the same.
So, what are yeast beta glucans and what are the best ones to take to support immune health?
This is where Wellmune comes in.
What is Wellmune®?
Wellmune is superior yeast-derived beta glucan, which has scientifically shown well substantiated immune-supporting properties. In fact, there have been over a dozen clinical studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of Wellmune®. The research verifies Wellmune’s unique ability to support the immune system in people from kids to older adults.
Of course, there are many different sources and types of yeast beta glucans on the market and as mentioned before, food sources. However, Wellmune is unlike other yeast derived beta glucans, as it is extracted from the cell wall of a proprietary strain of baker’s yeast.
In fact, Wellmune activates billions of immune cells, which are part of the body’s natural defence, to respond more effectively without overstimulating the immune system. It has been shown to reduce the incidence of URTI and colds. Wellmune® is also gluten and allergy free.
Where can you find Wellmune®?
Wellmune can be found in a range of food, beverage and supplement brands across the world. In Australia, you can find it in products like: Radiance ViroDefend and Viralex® Kids.
