Essential Guide To Living A Longer Happier Life

happier life

There are no secrets to living a longer and happier life. It’s all common sense. But, it’s surprising how many people avoid the simple advice, and take on unhealthy habits. Habits which, of course, then become serious problems. So, in this guide, we’re going to lay it down for you in a simple way. Here’s your guide to living a long, prosperous, and happier life.

Regular exercise

The sooner you start adding exercise to your lifestyle, the better. On average, you should be doing a minimum of two hours exercise a day – half an hour of which should be intense. Start doing press ups, and walk more often than you drive. Get a dog and take them for long walks in the countryside and breath in the fresh air. Go running, join a sports club – or set one up yourself. Do everything you can to be more active and you will enjoy the benefits for many years to come.

Eat more veg

Recent research has told us that five fruit and vegetables may not be enough, and you should look at seven portions instead. Make sure you are getting the nutrients you need from fruit and vegetables, and you will start to feel the benefits. Avoid eating too many crisps, soft drinks, burgers and other fast foods. And, cook more of your meals yourself – you will know exactly how much salt and sugar you are putting in.

Have a bigger breakfast

Many of us will miss breakfast because we are too busy. Don’t. It’s the most important meal of the day. A hearty breakfast can keep you going for longer, meaning you avoid those mid-morning snacks, which can lead to weight gain. Plus, it will give you the fuel you need to perform better at work, when you exercise, and whatever else you do with your days.

Quit the smokes

It should go without saying that smoking is not good for you – but many people still do it. Go and see your doctor to help you quit. Take up e-cigarettes instead – you get the nicotine fix without many of the chemicals you inhale from smoking. And, of course, you can get a full throat hit to make it feel like you aren’t missing out. Try anything you can to quit the smokes – it will add years to your life.

Watch out for stress

Stress can develop into a killer problem. With stress on your plate, you can develop high blood pressure, which in turn can lead to heart conditions. You will also make worse decisions in your everyday life as stress can cloud your judgement. Even things like crossing the road can be more dangerous when you aren’t right in your mind.

Sleep better

Finally, make sure you are getting enough shut eye. Set up a routine where you get up at the same time every morning. And, of course, go to bed when you feel tired. Once you have your routine, you will be able to sleep better, meaning you perform better at work, and can handle more of the problems that come your way.
